PHILANTHROPY

John has been actively involved with numerous charitable organizations over the years. For many years John supported AIDS Project Los Angeles by running the AIDS Marathon. John was consistently one of the top fundraisers, raising more than $200,000 to support the organization. John has also been a consistent presence at AIDS Walk Los Angeles. In addition to personally participating, John has often brought a team of walkers to join in raising money to support vital services for people living with HIV and AIDS. John’s work in the fight against HIV and AIDS led to his involvement in the Jacaranda School for Orphans. The Jacaranda School provides free education for children orphaned by AIDS in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world. Jacaranda also operates a preschool, a vocational school and a physiotherapy program for disabled children. In addition, Jacaranda also operates a micro-loan program and builds libraries in the community. John is the immediate past president of the organization and currently serves as secretary. John has also been the organizer of Jacaranda’s annual fundraising events in the United States. John currently serves on the Board of OutRight International, an organization which works to advance LGBTQI equality throughout the world.
